Public officials who are convicted of felony corruption charges should not be able to collect on their public retirement benefits, and they won't if Sen. Mark Johnson's SB231 becomes law.

Johnson (R-Ferndale) introduced the measure on Wednesday.

After the recent high-profile public corruption cases of Democratic and Republican state officials, this bill is a needed step to help reestablish Arkansans' confidence in government.

Thank you, Sen. Johnson!
